Grody stuff

Brace yourselves, it's time to talk about our favorite aunt.  TMI ahead!

Ever since my miscarriage I've been clotting more and more during my period.  Has anyone else experienced this?  It's starting to get a little worrisome.  Today's day 3, which is generally a heavy day for me, but I've been feeling okay, not too crampy or anything.  Then all of a sudden I started hurting way down low, you know how sometimes you can tell when your cervix hurts?  Well I can, and it hurts like a mother.  It kept getting worse and worse and finally I couldn't take sitting down anymore so I got up and hurried to the bathroom.  Passed a clot the size of a silver dollar and felt much better.

So even though I'm not TTC anymore/right now/maybe ever again, I'm worried that this means something.  What if I have a clotting disorder?  What if my endo is back with reinforcements?  What if whatever this is is what caused my m/c?  Ugh.  I hate IF.  Even when I'm not trying to get knocked up my body knocks me down!

I have been experiencing that too since my m/c's.
I am not sure what it means, but I just wanted you to know that you were not alone in that, or IF or if's.

I know heavy bleeders have a lot of clots because the blood flows so fast that it can't leak out fast enough and pools in the uterus or next to the cervix. My last miscarriage was full of clots and one time when I got a LEEP done they didn't cauterize a section of my cervix and I bled like there was no tomorrow and had awful clots.

But other than that, I still get normal periods.

When I was visiting my Chinese Medicine doctor, I was diagnosed as having Liver qi deficiency, and clotting was one of my biggest problems. Once I fixed my diet (along with herbs and acupuncture), the clotting went away entirely along with cramps and PMS. It was a miracle and I will always scream it out from the top of my lungs: TCM saved my life during horrible AF time. I was usually crouched over in pain for a few days with tons of clotting.

I really don't know, as I'm not sure what all this means. But I do know that a lot of clotting with your period isn't necessarily a good thing. This is one of the things that acupuncturists focus on - they say after a few months of TCM, you should see less clotting, which is better. The only think I could say is talk to your doc? Or maybe a TCM expert? I hope others have some better advice. But you're right - IF SUCKS!!!

I use to have this problem when I was a teenager but not because of a misacrriage. My periods were just RIDICULOUSLY heavy. I would bleed for weeks and have blood clots the size of silver dollars. Just huge gross things. You have to be careful because you can become anemic. that's what happened to me. In fact I was dangerously close to needing a blood transfusion because of the clots and all the bleeding. And you're right about the pain. I know what you mean.

I've always had clots - in fact, I rarely get "flow" at all. Ouch, sweetie.

If, um, you're worried about it and decide to start TTC again, maybe start on a daily baby aspirin and a lil extra folic acid? That's one of the treatments for MTHFR, pretty easy and cheap, and neither of 'em hurt ya.

Hope the pain goes away quickly!
